June

This whole summer went by in a blur. Good thing we have pictures to help us remember!!
Time for June!

Our friends invited us over for a bbq, and did a homemade slip'n'slide, which was lots of fun. Kimmie was our bravest one on this thing.
Calvin really wasn't too sure about it at first, but seemed to warm up to it.
Emily wouldn't go on it at all, she had fun with bubbles friends and food.
Here's our little bathing beauty taking a break from the slide

In June I put together a combined youth activity for our ward: an obstacle course based on the principles in Lehi's dream in the Book of Mormon. It was a huge success, with couches to climb over (while leaders are hucking balls of newspaper at them), music and "food" and video games for distractions, tunnels, hanging crepe paper, a pool filled with balls and balloons, tires, and leaders trying to get them to let go of the rope that was guiding them through the pitch dark of the course. Most of them did really well, although one leader got a few off and made everyone hesitate by trying them to go around the tunnel instead of through it, telling them that everyone else just went around and to not worry about crawling through. They would almost follow until they realized that they'd have to let go of the rope to do so! At the end we had trees lit up with lights and hung with chocolate-dipped strawberries and lots of goodies on the tables and bean bags to sit in and italian sodas to drink. It was a LOT of work but really fun and I got a lot of great feedback so I think it made an impression with the kids.
Here's a picture of setting up, although for some ridiculous reason I forgot to take pics of the finished product.
The kids had fun playing in the bean bags and helping to blow up the pool and balloons and everything else. It took all afternoon but they managed to stay entertained and didn't want to go when Dad came to pick them up. Poor kids!
Calvin came up to me with this around his head and said, "Look Mom, I'm a sunbeam!!" Apparently they were doing that in nursery... And yes, he is wearing a princess dress. Blackmail pictures for the future!!

Another big project on the house: John and his great brothers blew insulation into the attic. You can see it all in the air--what a mess!! But it's done now!
At the end of June, I went to Girls Camp with the Young Women. Thanks to Mom B. and Gary for watching the kids so I could stay up the whole week! John and the kids decided that wasn't fair, so they took Uncle Richard and hiked into Zimmerman Lake on Friday. When I talked to John on the phone during the week Emily was throwing up, so I wasn't sure if they would go, but when I got home on Friday the house was empty and they were gone. Looks like they had fun! Although when they came home on Saturday they had more mosquito bites in one night than I did from the whole week--and they were really bad where I was!! Some of the girls ended up with 50+ bites, but thankfully my kids weren't that bad. Although, I think Calvin is allergic because if he ends up with mosquito bites on his forehead he swells up to look like the Hunchback of Notre Dame. PS.. No pictures from Girls Camp. Sorry. :) What happens at Camp, stays at Camp. Ha ha! Nah, I just didn't have my camera... and I'm not sorry a bit.

Richard and Calvin at the lake

Very pretty!

I think it was cold, though, what do you think?

Kids exploring. I guess Richard brought up some duck whistles and other stuff, and the kids had a great time with that. I'm kind of glad I missed that part, I might have gone crazy!

Calvin backpacking! They had to hike a mile and half in after parking, and carrying all their gear. I thought John was nuts, but apparently the kids were great troopers and did their part. Emily says they hiked really fast and it was heavy. :) She says she'd do it again though.
And that's June! July with have to come later, I am late getting dinner on and there are TONS of pictures from our vacation. So, more to come at a later date! Hopefully this will satisfy those giving me a hard time about my blogging habits. I will try to be better, but no promises!

May

Since I haven't posted in a rather long time, I figured I'd just give you a synopsis in pictures. So... for the month of May, we kept busy by:

...Me playing with makeup and my girls...

...Curling Kimmie's hair, isn't it so cute?!?...

...John pruning our tree in the front yard (and giving me a nervous breakdown in the process! But actually he used his climbing gear so he was always tied in and safe)...
...I found plenty to do on the ground where it was safer...

...Kids watching movies and making messes when Mom's not paying enough attention...

...Taking exhausting bike rides...

...Playing at parks and parties...

...Calvin and John went on the Father/Kids campout with our ward and had fun:
Eating marshmallows...

...Playing in the grass and being cute...

...Climbing trees...

...Hiking, of course...
...And exploring the short-grass prairie...

...Emily finished kindergarten and we went and saw her end-of-year recital...

...They danced and played instruments and had fun...

And here's the video of Emily reciting her part in the introduction. She was perfect and so cute!

And that was May, as far as I can remember!!
